Student Experience

Student Experience

Our students engage in important work, supporting faculty in cutting-edge research and launching their own projects investigating solutions to pressing problems in society. To have a balanced, healthy, and fulfilling four years, our students also need time away from the classroom and projects. Greek life, athletics, club sports, student organizations, and music and arts programming give students the opportunity to connect with their classmates while also gaining valuable leadership and organizational skills. When you support these programs, you help ensure that students leave WPI equipped not only with the skills and knowledge to succeed in their careers, but with meaningful memories and the lifelong friendships that make time at WPI special.

Athletics

WPI’s 18 varsity sports teams provide an opportunity for competition and camaraderie for our student-athletes.

Club Sports

WPI offers dozens of club sports—including Marching and Pep Band, Fencing, Step Team, Ballroom Dance, Rugby, Alpine & Nordic Ski, and so many more.

Greek Life

WPI’s 13 fraternities and 6 sororities embody scholarship, leadership, and community service, and offer a great opportunity for students to build lifelong friendships and forge connections with alumni mentors.

Music & Theater Arts

Students have many ways to explore their creativity, through choral groups, band, theater, and more.

Student Organizations

At WPI, students have over 235 organizations to choose from, an excellent way to explore new interests, connect with those who share their passions, and discover something new.

Your Gift in Action

High Power Rocketry Club’s 24-person travel team—part of a 135-member-strong club—joined 1,300 other participants, representing 150 student teams from 95 higher education institutes and 16 countries at the 2022 Spaceport America Cup, held June 21-25. The competition calls for teams to construct a rocket and shoot it into “space” while carrying a small payload and is considered a premiere recruitment opportunity for sponsors, which this year included Sierra Space, Blue Origin, and Virgin Galactic.

Team member and club public relations officer Natanel Pinkhasov ’24 said HPRC allows students to bring to the launchpad a spirit of exploration that goes beyond their degree programs.

“That’s what lets us reach new heights,” he said. “Not only as a team but on an individual level, it allows you to excel and go to new places in your life and your career.”
